Electives cannot be repeated in the same school year.
Students may not always receive their first-choice elective.
The electives for both the first and second semesters are listed below to support planning for the latter half of the school year.
Elective changes will only be considered within the first two weeks of school and require approval from the elective teachers, parent/guardian, and administration.
Students will sign up for their electives during their Tech period. Permission slip must be signed by a parent and turned in on the day they are signing up for electives.
🎶 Band (1st Semester Only) – Mrs. Myers
This elective will be open for players with experience. The main objective will be to prepare students to participate in the high school marching and concert bands. Performances will likely include Veteran’s Day and a December concert. Students will need to provide their own instrument but occasionally, a few school-owned instruments are available for check-out.

Open to students interested in exploring the world of textiles, with a special focus on knitting and crocheting. Students will learn the basics of yarn crafts—how to hold the tools, read patterns, and create handmade items like scarves and hats. They will also explore basic sewing, experiment with clothing design, and upcycle second-hand fashion.

Students will learn behind-the-scenes roles in theater including set design, costumes, lighting, sound, and stage management. This class supports the PCK Fall Music Theater production.
Students must provide their own tight-fitting work gloves and safety glasses.

This class covers both major and minor sports. Students will develop skills while learning about the value of attitude, energy, and effort. Students should bring a change of clothes and be prepared to go outside in different weather conditions. Dress-down guidelines apply.

Learn the basics of 3D printing and design. Students will gain experience with 3D modeling software and printing their own creations. Class meets every Monday and Wednesday regardless of block schedule.

Students will learn about the legal system and take on courtroom roles such as attorneys, paralegals, witnesses, and more. They'll practice a real mock trial case and perform a simulated trial at the end of the semester.

Discover animal behavior, ecosystems, and conservation through hands-on activities, outdoor observation, and guest speakers. Learn how humans impact wildlife and how to help protect the natural world.

Students will explore, build, and maintain hydroponic systems to grow food without soil. Topics will include food justice, sustainability, and the future of farming—both on Earth and in space.

Explore drawing, painting, printmaking, and multimedia art while learning art history and developing personal style.
Class fee: $25
Focus on creating 3D forms using ceramics, sculpture, and other materials. Build foundational skills and develop artistic expression in three dimensions.
Class fee: $50
Learn to read instructions, build strategies, and enjoy a wide variety of board games. Emphasis on good sportsmanship and interaction with peers.

Students will explore graphic design using tools like Canva to create posters, social media graphics, infographics, and a collaborative school magazine. Projects are designed to build real-world visual communication skills.

Students rehearse during class time in either Lead or Cameo roles (assigned based on December auditions). After-school rehearsals occur on Tuesdays and Thursdays; students are expected to attend at least one weekly. Final performances will be held in May.
Participation fee: $250 (includes most costuming, licensing, and related expenses)
